Noah Kahan’s Grammy Nomination
Strafford native Noah Kahan did not win a Grammy at the recent ceremony.
His album “Stick Season” from 2022 gained significant success and attention.
He was nominated in the prestigious Best New Artist category but lost to R&B singer-songwriter Victoria Monet.
Other contenders in the category included Gracie Abrams, Fred again., Ice Spice, Jelly Roll, Coco Jones, and The War and Treaty.
Erin Bentlage and saje’s Grammy Win
Jericho native Erin Bentlage and her jazz vocal group säje won a Grammy for Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals for their song “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning.”
säje members, including Amanda Taylor, Johnaye Kendrick, and Sara Gazarek, shared the honor with guest arranger Jacob Collier.
This is Bentlage and saje’s first Grammy win after being nominated in 2021.
Bernie Sanders’ Grammy Nomination
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording category for his book “It’s OK to be Angry About Capitalism.”
However, he lost to Michelle Obama for her book “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times.”
Caroline Rose’s Grammy Nomination
Former Burlington resident, now based in Austin, Caroline Rose, was nominated for Best Recording Package for her album “The Art of Forgetting.”
The award went to the album “Stumpwork” by British indie-rockers Dry Cleaning.
Previous Vermont Grammy Winners
Anais Mitchell won in 2020 for Best Musical Theater Album for her Tony Award-winning musical “Hadestown.”
Rich Costey, a Waterbury native, won two Grammy Awards for Rock Album of the Year for his work on “Drones” by Muse and “Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace” by Foo Fighters.
Upcoming Performance
saje, the Grammy-winning jazz vocal group, is scheduled to perform at Higher Ground in South Burlington on March 31.
